Axle RepairServing Northeast Ohio

Legacy Auto & Fleet diagnoses and repairs driveshaft, U-joint, and CV axle problems on commercial fleet vehicles across Northeast Ohio. Our mobile service comes to your location.

What Axle Repair Covers and When You Need It

Legacy Auto & Fleet, LLC provides axle repair for commercial fleets across Akron, OH and the greater Northeast Ohio service area. The driveline system, including the driveshaft, U-joints, CV axles, and differentials, transfers power from the engine and transmission to the wheels of your fleet vehicle.

Watch for vibration at highway speed, clunking on acceleration or deceleration, difficulty turning, or a grinding feeling through the floor. These symptoms show up sooner and get worse faster on commercial vehicles carrying heavy daily loads than they do on passenger cars.

How We Diagnose and Repair a Driveline Problem

01

Full inspection. The technician test-drives the vehicle to replicate the symptom, then checks visually underneath the vehicle and manually tests all U-joints and CV boots for play or tearing, including a differential fluid check.

02

Confirm the diagnosis. Once the fault is identified, the technician reviews the finding and the repair plan with you before any work begins, so there are no surprises on cost or scope.

03

Source the right parts. Legacy Auto & Fleet pulls the needed component from on-hand inventory where possible, cutting the wait time that comes with ordering from a distributor.

04

Complete the repair. Depending on the fault, this means driveshaft removal and reinstallation, a U-joint press-fit replacement, a CV axle swap, or differential service.

05

Verify before release. A road test or wheel-spin check confirms the repair held before the vehicle goes back into service, so you aren't calling back next week with the same problem.

Axle and Driveline Repair Questions from Fleet Operators

  • How do I know if my truck's axle or driveshaft is failing?

Watch for vibration at highway speed, a clunking sound when accelerating or braking, trouble turning, or a grinding feeling through the floor. On a commercial vehicle carrying regular loads, these signs usually worsen fast, so getting it checked at the first sign saves money and downtime.
  • What types of commercial vehicles do you service for axle repair?

We repair driveline and axle components on cargo vans, box trucks, pickups, and other work vehicles common to small business fleets across Northeast Ohio, whether two-wheel-drive, four-wheel-drive, or all-wheel-drive systems.
  • Can axle repair be done at my location, or do I need to bring the vehicle in?

Many driveline repairs can be handled on-site through our mobile service, so your vehicle doesn't need to be towed. More involved jobs, like a full differential rebuild, may require our Tallmadge garage. We'll tell you which applies during diagnosis.
  • How long does a typical axle or driveline repair take?

A single U-joint or CV axle replacement is often completed the same day once parts are on hand. More complex driveshaft or differential work takes longer, and we'll give you a specific time estimate after inspecting the vehicle.
  • What happens if I keep driving with a worn U-joint or CV axle?

The wear compounds. A worn U-joint left unaddressed can damage the driveshaft itself, turning a low-cost repair into a much larger one, and it raises the risk of a breakdown on the road.
